TITLE: Iowa 137 in Wapello County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the relocation of US 63 north of Ottumwa, and the rerouting of US 63, Iowa 23 and Iowa 149, Iowa 137 is being shortened to end at US 63 in Eddyville.

The former section of Iowa 137 from Eddyville to Oskaloosa will now become US 63.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 137 in Wapello County to include the attached new description in the Primary Road System.

Old Description - Iowa 137 and its extension in Wapello County described as follows:

Beginning on the Wapello-Monroe County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 7-T73N-R15W; thence northeast through Sections 7 and 6-T73N-R15W to the west corporation line of Eddyville, connecting with an unnamed street.

Eddyville:

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; thence northeast on unnamed street to 8th Street (junction Iowa 23); thence northwest on 8th Street to the Wapello-Mahaska County line.

New Description - Iowa 137 and its extension in Wapello County described as follows:

Beginning on the Wapello-Monroe County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 7-T73N-R15W; thence northeast through Sections 7 and 6-T73N-R15W to the west corporation line of Eddyville, connecting with an unnamed street.

Eddyville:

Beginning on an unnamed street at the west corporation line; thence northeast on unnamed street to 8th Street (junction US 63).
